A Conversation on Jesus

Bentley must have had a lesson in Primary recently about Jesus and how he wants us to be nice:

“Mommy, is that Jesus?” (referring to the picture on our living room wall)
“Yes, that’s Jesus!!”
“Jesus wants us to be nice?”
“Jesus likes us to be nice, yes.”
“Sometimes it’s hard to be nice.”
Grandma interjects: “But normally it’s easy to be nice, right?!”
Bentley ends with: “It’s hard to be nice right now.”
(he was being told it was time to clean up and he did NOT want to!)

We've had numerous variations on this conversation in the past few days. Bentley always reminds me that sometimes it's hard to be nice. Yesterday he threw in that sometimes he just wants to be mean. Hmmm.... those twins can get to a boy, I guess.

In other "gospel news"...

Earlier this week the word of the day was damnation. Apparently he found some good stuff in those New Testatment scripture stories he's been watching on my computer - I'm trying to help him master the reason for Easter! But his new word for the day? Not the atonement or resurrection that I was going for. Nope. Damnation. As for when we questioned him on what Jesus did at Easter time? Apparently he was swallowed by a whale (Jesus, Jonah… I guess they could be easily confused!!!).

We’ll keep working with him.

On yet another side note. Why is it I can find 20 (literally) books on the Easter display at the book store about the Easter Bunny and egg hunts and spring chickens... and only 2 that reference Christ and the reason for Easter? I think it's sad.
