Lincoln's First Train Layout

The older children always rush to help Lincoln when he brings out the train tracks. A couple of weeks ago, however, the older three were gone all day and Lincoln got a chance to build his first train layout without any sibling help.

It started out a little rough because Lincoln pulled out all the specialty pieces first. He tried to join them together without using any regular track pieces. This makes for a very bumpy, uneven track. He became frustrated and unhappy. (He's a perfectionist like his brother Bentley.)

He demanded that I give some assistance. I gave him the pieces he needed to make everything connect smoothly. Then he was off building on his own again.

After a while I had to introduce him to curved pieces because he was headed out the bedroom door. Kara came and tried to coax him downstairs for lunch, but he refused. He was adamant that he was building a train track.

He built more and more, occasionally enlisting my help when he couldn't figure out how the specialty pieces fit together, but mostly he built it on his own. It's his design!
