Viva and Jake turned FOUR this year! I can't believe it, they're little people and not just crazed toddlers. Funny how that happens. When I asked Jake what his plans are for being four he told me "... well, next I will turn 5! and then 6, and then 7, and then 10!" Hmmmm. I hope he slows down for me, just a bit. :-)
The big day was a Sunday this year, which is fun (not!). We headed off to morning church, and then made cake and ate cake in the afternoon. The kids have cake and presents linked together in their heads (it's a good pairing, after all!) and what's the point in waiting until late in the evening to have the gifts, right?! We had hamburgers later in the evening, as that is a favorite meal choice with everyone.
And now... the photo diary.
Bentley worked hard to make them birthday cards. Here is one of my favorite:
Sweet brother, right?!
The cake! Grandma made Viva a delicious strawberry cake, and Jake requested a rainbow cake without frosting just like Bentley's... that was nice of him, (and deliberate I believe) as Bentley wont' eat frosting. :)
There was also cake cutting. That is even more important than eating the cake, you know. To a small child at least. Here's Jake, with his (plastic) knife - come on, Mom... get on with it!
Love his expression in this one too. "Viva, why are you cutting such a SMALL piece?!"
After cake there were, of course, presents!
and, just because, another picture (or two) of my two favorite four year olds:
and Viva - modeling her BEAUTIFUL crown which her brother Bentley had spent considerable time cutting and taping together to give her for her birthday:
It was a fun day! By bedtime it was definitely time for bed - skipping rest time, getting up early, and the excitement of a big day are a bit much for anyone to handle. And then on Wednesday we went up to hang with Grandma Karen and Uncle Ty (Grandpa Tim is traveling right now) and have a 2nd birthday bash with cupcakes and gifts. How lucky can 2 little kids be?!
Happy birthday, kidlets! We love you lots and lots and then even more than that!
