Back to the Museum

Since we have a museum pass this year, I am diligently trying to put it to good use. Two weeks ago I took the older three.

We walked by a nice patch of fireweed on the walk from the truck to the museum.

Once inside the museum we viewed a visiting exhibit titled Portrait Alaska: Clark James Mishier. It featured more than 200 photo portraits of Alaskans shot over the past two decades. The children were good about taking in this exhibit.

We then went upstairs and checked out the cultural exhibits. The goal here is for me to get them to read a couple of placards before they drag me back downstairs to the science center.

Back in the science center we hit all the favorite spots. Jake and Bentley spent a quarter hour (of our parking metered two hours) watching the balls run through the large, enclosed ball run. Viva flitted from station to station, fiddling with the dials, but not reading the signs explaining the science. Maybe another visit!

Then we headed off to another room and played at the bubble station which is another favorite of the trio. In the past Viva has been the best at making large bubbles, but this time it was Jake and Bentley's turn to shine. The children played at the tsunami tank, the wax volcano, the sand table, the earthquake table, the slow motion photo station, and two of them made short animated clips of wolves attacking a polar bear (there were limited props to work with).

Our two hours of meter time were up and we raced for the truck.
