In our church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) when children are eight they are baptized. Bentley has been looking forward to this event and the past few weeks has been very involved in helping to plan his baptism program.
It was very cute. His friend was baptized at the beginning of the month and that gave him some ideas as to how he wanted his big day to go. From there he sat down and (with a bit of help from Opa!) thought about what songs he wanted to sing, and who he wanted to talk to about speaking and offering prayers. He had the chance to call and ask those people to participate, and then handed out invitations at church. He picked out a program cover, and helped "design" the inside. When we arrived at the church he supervised (zealously!!) the set up and then greeted all his guests at the door.
Bentley, Jake, and Opa spent two weeks preparing a ukulele number to sing/perform together. It went very well and sounded great! Genevieve wanted to participate too, but wasn't keen on all the practice time for the song. :) Bentley agreed to let her read a poem. It took a bit of time to find one that she deemed "acceptable", but in the end it sounded great.
And the best part? The ear to ear smile and happiness you can see radiating off of Bentley:
I think it went perfectly. We're proud of Bentley and the choice he made!
