Bentley finished the Secrets of Droon series two weeks ago. I had to purchase the final book in the series because the library did not have it in its collection. I suggested the library add it, but Bentley didn't want to wait the months it would take for that to happen.
Last time I reported on the Droon book series Jake was ahead of Viva. Viva was finishing the Dragon Slayers' Academy. She finished that series and then started reading the Secrets of Droon every chance she got. The next time I checked she was on book 22 and Jake was on book 12. Jake has been taking time off from reading to build with Legos. He likes the Droon series, but he's not dedicated to reading it like Viva is.
Last weekend Viva was on book 26 and Jake was on book 15. Viva is in Las Vegas this week, so she will not be reading any Droon books. The library's fees for lost books are too high to risk losing a book on vacation.
Bentley is currently reading books on the Kindle. He was reading two at once--The Wizard of Oz and the Wind in the Willows. He is sharing the Kindle with Jake who is reading the Wizard of Oz, too. Kara told the children they could go to see the new Wizard of Oz movie with her if they read the book first. Then Matt told Kara that the new movie is a prequel to the Wizard of Oz story and not based on the book B and J were reading. The movie is a Disney creation about the origins of the Wizard of Oz. I'll be purchasing that story on amazon.com. The children can watch the 1939 classic Wonderful Wizard of Oz movie at home. Great-grandma would enjoy seeing that movie, too. It's a win-win. They read two books. They get to see a movie at the theater. They get to watch another movie at home.
