Bentley! Bentley! He's So Fun!

Lately on the blog we've been writing a lot about Jake and Viva. They're on the go more now and up to new shenanigans almost daily. Also, it was their first birthday recently--a big event in all our lives!

Bentley has been featured in a couple of posts--one about the firehouse and another about going to the air show. While he enjoyed both of these adventures he wasn't his usual exuberant self at either of them. So I thought I'd do a post today to show and tell you what the boy has been up to in the past month when he's just doing his own thing.

He LOVES the outdoors. We've said this before and I'm sure we'll say it again. I don't know how many times a day I hear him ask "Go outside?!" I'm sure it's only a fraction of the number of times his mom and dad hear it! He loves to play at the park or in the back yard or go to the zoo. As soon as he comes in from outside, he looks for someone to take him back out.

When stuck in the house he plays a lot with his vehicles. He likes to line them up. His Grandma Vicki helps him do this. She told me that he's very strict with her about what can go in the line. Only objects with wheels. Airplanes qualify because they have wheels. (Would a seaplane?)

Do you see the row of vehicles behind Bentley parked in front of the couch? The twins get in BIG trouble if they take one of the vehicles out of the line.

Here's Bentley checking out the newest Duplos which were spread out on the counter. His mom had just washed them and laid them out to dry after purchasing them at a garage sale.

Although I know Bentley still loves books, I haven't seen him read much this past month. I don't think he's asked me even once to read a book with him. Most unusual. Perhaps Grandma Vicki (who is visiting from South Dakota) is getting all the reading requests? I did find this photo of her and three grandbabies reading together.

I think part of the reason that he's not into books so much right now is that the outside is a greater lure. I'm not too worried about this lapse. Alaskan winters are very long. We'll have plenty of time to read then.

Bentley continues to plague his siblings at times, but other times he's very loving with them. Here he is sharing fruit snacks with them.

And here he and Jake are playing with the ride on cars.

Viva is still Bentley's favorite sibling to knock over. *sigh* Why is that? She's a very good sport about it, but she has her limits. As do we adults who must police him.

Bentley loves to spend time with his friends. He likes his cousin Felicity who he played with on the Fourth of July. He likes to meet up at the park with Daniel. His buddy Macy has been out of town for over a month visiting her grandparents, so he'll be happy to hear she's back in town now. He likes to hang with Haley at the library on Tuesdays. And his mom says that Amrita's stepson Payton is a favorite of Bentley's to go to the zoo with.

Bentley discovered he likes peanut snack bars. The hard part is getting him to try new foods. He usually refuses.

He's also discovered that a great way to let off excess energy and/or aggression is to be very noisy.

Who knew such a little boy could produce so much noise?! His mom would say that she did because Jake can scream even louder. Nonetheless I'm still amazed that our previously even-tempered elder grandson can be so loud. Fortunately he doesn't do this very often or for very long.

And, once in while, he likes to take a nap. There's been a few times in the past month when he's informed his mom it's nap time and he goes down stairs of his own choice and scheduling. WOW! In the interests of accurate journaling, I must admit that those occasions are few and far between. Often he doesn't take a nap and other times he's a pill at nap times. However, he's always an angel while asleep. Here's my proof:

From the second to last photo, he looks as if he will be great at speeches or opera!
