So Long, Formula!

Yesterday the twins finished their last can of baby formula. For the first 4-6 months they enjoyed this:

This was speciality formula for preemie babies, with extra calories and nutrients to help them grow. It costs an arm & a leg, but luckily for the college accounts I learned you can buy ANYTHING on Ebay! Don't worry, the containers were all sealed and well before their expiration dates. :-) By the time the twins reached 6 months of age the Dr. concluded they were ready to be moved to a "normal" baby formula. Enter the Costco brand!

We've been going through the containers since, and I've been awaiting their 1st birthday and the chance to move to whole milk. I know some people would say you should slowly transition the kidlets with a mix of formula and milk, but with Bentley (and now with the twins) we just did a cold turkey switch over - and they seem happy enough!

And I'm happy - milk (even at a new high price of $3.79/gallon) is still half the cost of formula - half the price of the Kirkland formula, that is! It's 1/6th the cost, per ounce, of the Enfacare.

The only unhappy one in the house? The refrigerator. She isn't sure where to store the 3 gallons of milk a week we'll now be going through in our home.

Hurray for moving on! More room in the budget for chocolate - oops - I mean vegetables. :-)

Yeah! That was one of my happiest moments as well.

We went cold turkey too...and the boys did great. I don't think a mix of formula and milk would taste too good, but then again, I've never tried it!

Luckily with the move, we updated the fridge so we can fit their stockpile of milk.

P.S. Not sure what kind of chocolate you buy, but I like REALLY dark chocolate. Have you been to Summit Spice? They have great things there...although stay away from the "bacon" one. It's touted as 'gourmet', but...gross!
