Breadsticks & Legos

Today two of Bentley's great loves were sharing space in his day, what a happy way to start off a morning, right?! Bentley loves Legos and so we are part of a Lego team at his charter school. The group meets once a week, and they're learning about gears and Lego contraptions. They'll be participating in a Lego League competition later this month if everything comes together right!

For the competition they are supposed to design something (out of Legos and using gears) that relates to the topic of the year. The topic for this year is food safety, so today the kids headed over to a local pizza place to get a behind the scenes tour and maybe come up with a few ideas for their competition piece.

I'm not sure if any of the 5 year olds came up with a great game plan for the competition, but I do know they had a great time! Bentley's favorite breadsticks are from the Great Alaska Pizza Company (where we did our tour), and at the end of the tour the owner let each of the kids make their own pizza. Bentley does not eat pizza (red sauce is scary), but he does inhale breadsticks. Whenever we buy them from this place he requests his own bag. Of eight. And he eats them all.

So he asked if he could do breadsticks instead of a pizza. Our quite obliging host not only helped him make breadsticks, he also made him an Italian pizza (just butter and cheese on it) so Bentley could compare the two. Then he threw in another bag of breadsticks and a pepperoni pizza for the rest of us in the house. Sweet!

We had a great time!
