Bentley's 2 yr check up

Bentley went in for his 2 year check up with the Dr. today - the lucky boy escaped the associated immunizations as apparently one of them has to be administered no less than 6 months after the last one was done. We're 5 days early so we have to go back (grrrrr).

Here's the stats:

Bentley's head continues to impress, maintaining it's 45th% at 48.4 cm. :-) The rest of his body still has to catch up to the head. He's getting a bit taller, he's at 33 1/4 inch maintaining his 15th%. As for weight? Well... it was down 2 oz from his 18 month check up, he currently clocks in (with the advantage of all clothing on for the first time, mind you!) at 21 lbs 6 oz. He's so far off the bottom of the chart on that one that I'm not even sure where he is in the black land!

Matt and I asked the Dr. many questions about how to get our scrawny child to eat, but the Dr. continues to assure us that he's a healthy kid, he has lots of energy, and he's doing okay. Apparently we're supposed to not push the food at all (that's a hard task!) and maybe that will make it less of an issue with him. His mantra is that it's the parent's responsibility to provide healthy food, and it's the child's responsibility to eat it (or not).

As for other discussion - we inquired as to speech development and were told that he will be talking in sentences (and with more words) by the time he is 3. So we're supposed to sit back and let him develop as he wants to - I suppose we don't have much of any other choice!!

The Dr. was impressed with his strength as he battled off an ear check and heart check - for a small little guy he has a huge amount of fight in him.

and... that was it! I've noticed that the more of these appointments we go to the fewer questions we have. Does that mean we're becoming comfortable with our role as parents and laid back about it? I hope so!
