March Snow Fall

Usually in March Anchorage will have 10" of snow fall. This March we had 20", a lot of that fell last week. Because of the extra 10" this past month, our season-to-date snowfall is above normal by 7". Last Wednesday the children went outside to play in the snow. There was a lot of fresh snow, but it wasn't good for making snowmen or snow forts. Bummer.

Lincoln had a hard time walking through it because of the depth. He insisted on going outside, but when Kara checked on him he was just standing on the porch watching the older three play. I asked Bentley to help Lincoln get off the porch, but the snow was just too deep for him. He'd got stuck and then fell over. I had to put my boots on and go and rescue him.

By the end of March we Anchoragites are ready for the snow to leave, but heavy snowfalls this time of year melt quickly enough, so it’s not a big deal.
