The Birthday Party

As I mentioned earlier this week, Grandma Vicki flew in from South Dakota, so she was our special guest for Lincoln's birthday! We also had Grandpa Tim and Grandma Karen over for dinner and Uncle Tyler stopped by for cake and gift unwrapping. Cousin Ruth and her baby Ada also joined us.

Our party menu was hamburgers, chips, and corn on the cob. Grandma Vicki shared her burger with Lincoln and he had his own bun. I borrowed Viva's partially eaten cob of corn to see what he thought of it and he liked it so much Viva never got it back!

Our friend Carmen offered to make the cake for Lincoln. It was a great cake. Not only did it look good, but it tasted great, too. Lincoln loved the frosting so much, it was hard to get him to dig into the cake. The rest of the family enjoyed mini cupcakes that Carmen provided. Bentley ate six of them while the adults were watching Lincoln enjoy his cake.

After cleaning Lincoln up (it took a while), Lincoln opened up his gifts from his party guests. He needed help from his siblings because he was easily distracted. That happens when you are only one year old! Lincoln was excited about his great gifts: books, a puzzle, an animal basketball game, a Little People Batman Bat Cave, and a Little People Stand 'n Play Rampway. Grandpa Tim stayed after the party to help the trio set up the rampway. The trio were quite pleased with Lincoln's new toys. Lincoln has a few more gifts to open up tomorrow. It's best not to overwhelm young, young children.

Here's a few photos of the party:
